This 51mm bottomless portafilter is designed for De'Longhi Dedica series 51mm three-ear espresso machines. The portafilter body, basket and metal head are made of 304 stainless steel, SGS certified for food contact safety. The handle has a slim cylindrical shape with a flat base, so it stays steady when used on a tamping mat. The product comes with one double-shot non-pressurized basket (recommended dose 16-18g) to help you unlock the true flavor of your coffee beans.

How to Use

Fill the portafilter with freshly ground coffee → set it flat on your tamping mat → distribute and tamp evenly → lock into the machine → watch the extraction and enjoy. The flat base keeps it steady on the mat, and the open bottom lets you see the full flow to fine-tune grind, dose and tamp.

It is normal for liquid to spray or split into multiple streams when the grind is too coarse, the coffee bed has clumps, or the tamp is uneven — this is channeling, not a product defect. Use a WDT tool to break up clumps and tamp evenly.

Quality & Care

Easy to clean: the head and basket are detachable — rinse under running water, no hard-to-reach areas.

Wood handle care: handles use a food-safe wax oil finish rather than chemical paint — safe, non-toxic and suitable for food contact. Over time the wax oil layer naturally wears and the color may lighten; this is normal. Reapply wax oil periodically to restore. Do NOT put the wooden handle in a dishwasher or soak it; wipe with a damp cloth and air dry.

Q: How do I confirm whether my machine is 3-ear or 2-ear?
Take out the original portafilter and look at the metal tabs on the side of the head. 3 tabs = 3-ear (this product fits); 2 tabs = 2-ear (not compatible).

Q: After installing, the portafilter locks loosely / leaks / sprays from the side?
First check whether the machine's gasket is worn or deformed — replace it if needed. Then check: grind too coarse (grind finer), dose too low (16-18g recommended), uneven distribution or tamping, and whether the portafilter is fully locked. If it persists, contact us.

Q: Coffee sprays or splits into multiple streams during extraction?
Spraying from a bottomless portafilter usually indicates channeling — caused by uneven grind, clumped grounds or uneven tamping, not a product defect. Use a WDT tool to break up clumps, then tamp evenly.

Q: Why is there little or no crema?
Crema depends on bean freshness, grind size, extraction pressure and dose. A non-pressurized basket does not create crema artificially — use fresh quality beans and correct technique for rich crema.

Q: What is the recommended dose?
This is a double-shot non-pressurized basket with a recommended dose of 16-18g. You can adjust to taste.
